Another nice Bracelet

Another really beautiful bracelet taken from a pattern of the Crochet today magazine. Really not difficult at all to crochet, just a wee bit fine skills needed. Issue nr: ?? It is held together on the arm with two small buttons, in this case black buttons, but off course depending on the color of the bracelet you could use any odd buttons hanging around at home.

Bracelets- three in one

Bracelets

It can be difficult to see, but this bracelet is actually three thin bracelets. Crocheted with needle no 3, (European measurement) and after finishing the crocheted part you then fold the edges together and make it a bracelet. One bracelet then measures about a cm in width. I found this pattern in the Magazine "Crochet Today" Issue number:  The yarn to use is really depending on your own taste, but, in the end, to make a fine bracelet, I would think and I also did. So I used a real thin/fine crochet yarn. Much the same that you would use to make doilies or the like of it. The Bracelet can be used separate or as an ensamble as in the picture, but in the end, what do you like?

My Little Pillow

My Little Pillow

Growing up I used to beg my grandmother if she could´t just make me a carpet, she had made one for my sister. After begging and begging she finally did. My idea of weaving was that it in fact was a very easy thing to do, you just put some threads in that machine-thingy and out comes a lovely handwoven carpet. As I am trying my way through different types of handiwork the turn had come to weaving.

Well, first of all I had to find myself a weaving frame. As I seldom have any money to buy things I decided to make one. With some nails, hammer and a piece of an old shelf I started to first venture into the world of carpeting. Needles to say, I am glad I´m sticking to fabric and yarn. My grandfather; Olle, or A.O as we know him,  being one of the finest carpenters that I have met in my life, watching me from heaven.... dear sweat Lord (that I do not  even believe in...) just hammering away. I am so sorry O. A.

The result was not all that bad in the end. It was just to get me started.

I started trying the different techniques that I had read about and although my weaving frame was not very big, and not even realy a frame at all, it caught my interest and finally my little dollhouse carpet was ready to be taken off the frame.

Well, I do not play with dolls anymore and I suspect the old dollhouse is long gone somewhere I turned the little carpet into a holder for my many crochet needles. Now I can arrange them size-wise and even though they usually are somewhere else I at least feel very organized.

Finding this new venue of creating I talked about it with my neighbor, who is a very creative person, and as it turned out she had a school weaving frame and a bigger weaving frame that she could lend me.

I started thinking what to make, with what and as it often works with me, there is no time for drawing, testing making models etc. I started out with some yarn( acrylic) and remembered that I had some thin silk ribbons laying around so I went looking for those and suddenly I had created a wonderful, but really small pillow.

If my grandmother would be alive today I would never ever beg for a carpet in that way. Just weaving this little pillow, I know now that it takes a lot of work , time and effort.

Socks

These are the first socks I have ever made in my life. Whyyyy did they have to be for a size "45???
But I have made them, and I am really proud of myself!

These socks were made for my dear friends sister´s son for Christmas. On this photo they are on my feet and I´m no 45 shoe-size as you can see. But I finished them on time and he seemed to like them.

Knitting with five needles proved to be a monstrous task. At one point I was counting the needles, and wondering where  the fifth f****ing needle went. I found it eventually when answeing the phone and it fell from my mouth. At one point I was looking like I was in a war with some alien object, but finally here they are. And seriously, they actually resembles one another.

December dwellings

December dwellings

December has been a really hectic month for me as I guess I guess it is for a lot of us out there. Trying, all through November to figure out what people would like for their Christmas present I soon realized that I  had to MAKE them all my self, due to a major cash flow problem...

I started out with trying all of the different gadgets I have borrowed from friends and looking at all my collected yarn, stuffing my head into piles of magazines and books, realizing quite promptly, that well... ... although it is really fun doing weaving and using my inkle loom, I´m not sure it will be a much appreciated gift, more like hmmmm what is this...At the moment I am now practicing weaving at home, trying to get the basics of the art form as it truly is an artform in it´s own right. It takes a lot of time, planning and working hard with fingers and mind. As you can guess a real patience exercise for someone like me. As soon as I have something finished I will post it here on this blog even though this is supposed to be a crochet blog.
